About Me

I’m a real person — just like you. I have feelings, hopes, dreams, and questions. And although I seem to have at least a few strengths, I definitely have many weaknesses. Also, like you, I wonder where life will take me; what tomorrow will bring; and why I’m here. My interests are fairly basic: singing/acting, writing, chatting online, lively discussions about religion/politics, watching great movies (sci-fi, action-adventure, romantic comedy), and sitting in Bryant Park (New York City) to people-watch as I ponder the mysteries of the universe.biofundmepic.jpg

I’m also a Christian. . . . No, not that kind of “Christian.” You know the kind I’m talking about — uptight, narrow-minded, bigoted, full of more hate (or fear) than love, wearing a mask of false humilty to conceal pride/arrogance, and perhaps worst of all, totally ignorant of the world outside whatever building they’re calling God’s private sanctuary. That’s the kind of “Christian” to whom, and about whom, Jesus often spoke:

“Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You shut the door of the kingdom of heaven in people’s faces. You yourselves do not enter, nor will you let those enter who are trying to. . . . You give a tenth of your spices—mint, dill and cumin. But you have neglected the more important matters of the law—justice, mercy and faithfulness. You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former. You blind guides! You strain out a gnat but swallow a camel” (Matthew 23:13, 23).Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence. Blind Pharisees! First clean the inside of the cup and dish, and then the outside also will be clean” (Matthew 23:25-26).

finger-pointing_herzog_pharisees.jpg“Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs, which look beautiful on the outside but on the inside are full of the bones of the dead and everything unclean. In the same way, on the outside you appear to people as righteous but on the inside you are full of hypocrisy and wickedness” (Matthew 23:27-28).cleansing.jpgThen Jesus went into the temple courts and drove out all who were buying and selling there. He overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those selling doves. And He declared to them, “It is written: ‘My house will be called a house of prayer.’ But you are making it ‘a den of robbers’” (Matthew 21:13).

Truer words were never spoken. So, to be clear, I love God. There, I said it. And I follow, as best as I can, the teachings of Christ, trying as much as possible to spread his love in all I do and say. Sadly, I often fail miserably. Fortunately, there is forgiveness (Thank God).

three-crosses.jpgObviously, given my worldview, religious discussions here on the Chit Chat Channel will likely be quite common. But I plan to also engage readers with articles, photos, and videos covering my other interests: politics, entertainment, art, music, pop culture, current news, philosophy, and controversial social issues. All visitors are welcome to make contributions. . . . as long as they are civil and respectful. I want this to be is a place where everyone can meet, talk, learn, grow, evolve, share, and maybe even change.

Finally, FYI, I unfortunately happen to be a “public figure” since I’m a published author (see amazon.com). That means I have little defense against all kinds of bizarre things that others have written about me online (and when I say “bizarre,” I mean really BIZARRE)—i.e., what I’ve purportedly said; what I’ve supposedly done; and what I allegedly believe. In other words, try not to take too seriously what you might read about me in the far flung reaches of cyberspace. For now, just know that: I’ve never worked for the Illuminati (the what?); I’m not a multi-millionaire (sadly); I wasn’t abducted by aliens from the Orion Nebula (darn); and I don’t believe, nor have I ever believed, that Harry Potter can turn children into Witches, Satan Worshipers, or demon-possessed rebels. (I said “bizarre,” right?) If you have any questions about something else you heard/read online (I can’t wait), just ask me. I’ll be more than happy to answer you.

blogprofileSo, here I am, to share a bit about myself, chronicle life, make new friends, offer my thoughts, present a few viewpoints, impart some observations . . . and have fun—accentuating it all, hopefully, with as many stimulating discussions and debates that you will allow. Feel free to give what you will. Take what you wish. And don’t forget to visit my main website (coming soon ….).

peace & joy,
